Market Up(grade to T-Mod)? - Market Down - 05-03-2025 TmoIngame Name: MarketDown SteamID: STEAM_0:1:49151111 Discord Tag & ID: marketdown Time Played: 277.35 hours Availability (Approx. times you play, and time zone): 5-10pm EST m-f varies on weekends What have been some challenges you've faced as a Trusted?: The challenge I've faced that I'm still working on is keeping alert and knowing exactly what to do when the situation is chaotic, and there's multiple rule violations going on at the same time. When there's mic spam, and people feeding off the others negative energy, words can be thrown around that I completely miss and have had players use admin chat to report slurs or hateful language that I've had to go back through a recording or scroll up in the chat to see/hear. A challenge I enjoy is handling the reports. When there is chaos in the report, digging through the logs to pick apart what actually happened in a situation is actually pretty fun. Utilizing previous death scenes of other players and moving around in them to go find out what led up to actual kill that led to a report is a challenge, but one I quite enjoy and I'm getting quickly better at. What have you done well as Trusted?: I ask a lot of questions of the people who have been staff longer than I have, and go over the actions staff has taken when I'm online and I figure out how I would have handled that situation in their shoes. I've handled some chaotic server situations, made ban requests, and recorded evidence and been able to report that to admins and moderators to enact a ban for situations such as hacking, harassment, and mass rdm. Have you had any Staff Strikes? (Link Relevant Posts): Have you previously applied for staff? (Link Relevant Posts): https://www.dinklebergsgmod.com/site/showthread.php?tid=20148 Did you fill out the required scenario questions for rank you are applying for (Link Here)?: Indeed Other: I know I've only been trusted for exactly the one month mark, but I've learned a lot and continue to learn. If I'm promoted to T-Mod, I plan to stay at that role for quite some time to refine skills before an eventual Mod application- but I think I'd look to maintain my level of activity for the next few months and truly learn the role before I look to make an application for that role. RE: Market Up(grade to T-Mod)? - Sacred - 05-03-2025 One of the easiest +1s I've done. Market Down knows what he's doing, is very active, and is a joy to be on with. I have not had a single bad moment with the guy. Get this guy his T-Mod ASAP. RE: Market Up(grade to T-Mod)? - d33r - 05-03-2025 When on rooftops I specifically told you a mod had told me not to smoke the skybox because of the lag it caused players and it crashing Jerry. You're response was "but I'm a lowly trusted" and you did use a single smoke grenade but used your vape repeatedly for the effect more than once. You would always leave the playing area on MW2 Highrise and say its fine because theres no kill box even though its clearly unintended as it wasn't made with iron boots and such in mind. While not horrific of an action your excuse was that you'd just kill yourself if you were last but you wouldn't know until someone ghosted you the information. Even when I took the screenshot that I posted you were going behind the buildings being unkillable for a few seconds but thats not great. Can't imagine how you used it without someone saying something to you. I also do not like the 1 month immediate apply. I don't really think you've actually shown yourself to have an elevated rank about your position. There's the opinion that trusted isn't different enough from t-mod because its not many commands. I think thats not a good view of it, just like the "trusted is just a learning rank" T-Mod is still a step above. 2/3 ranks and that gives you authority over trusted and they would ask you for guidance. But honestly I don't think you've shown that you have the authority to give advice to upcoming trusteds, I don't even think you've really shown authority that you could handle the server at major oo aa moments. passive aggressive -/+0 for the bit TL:DR Lack of authority/discipline, Genuinely don't think is ready. This was earlier today before I made this application. I asked in staff chat if anyone had heard of this causing lag beyond that, and the other staff, (a Moderator) online responded in the affirmative that there shouldn't be an issue. I did so once, to see the effect- Jerry did not crash and my frames weren't touched by it. You were the one who told me to use my vape for the effect in the first place, and to specifically "point it upwards so it's actually visible to the players." I did this for literally two rounds, was extremely vocal about where I was, and I raised the question on whether it was an exploit, and then asked in discord if it would be considered an exploit since I was targetable. Your comment makes it sound like I was intentionally hiding from players, delaying the round, and waiting it out. In total I spent maybe 2-3 minutes there discussing out loud in chat about where I was and that I was targetable. This was a situation I was trying to point out a problem with the map and asked about getting a killbox put in there. I did not use iron boots, I used the jump pack. This was something that any player could use and I raised the discussion in the staff chat. "But honestly I don't think you've shown that you have the authority to give advice to upcoming trusteds, I don't even think you've really shown authority that you could handle the server at major oo aa moments." I willingly admit I am still learning at the role. I may not take myself too seriously, but I do my best to handle all reports and other infractions with the same level of respect I'd want to receive. I don't think I need to be pushy about my role and that it's one that can be done with levity, respect, and as much humor about the fact that we volunteered to be staff on a video game as full grown adults as possible. T-Mod is another learning role with a few more permissions, and I think that I've been handling my role as trusted well. I handle as much as I can without involving other players, or being loud about my issues that may arise. Hope y'all enjoy my essay. From what I have seen of you, you have been a great t-mod. If you have come to points where you feel like you are overstepping/still trying to figure out where you are at and how to do things right: you are just proving further and further that you have a lot of self awareness and room to make improvements. Its better to have someone who is building up staffing skills and admittedly still figuring things out than someone just saying they do perfect and deflecting criticism! Also yes server chaos is hard to read for sure, and sometimes things are so vague and indistinguishable that something that may seem like good fun might translate otherwise or vice versa. +1 You have a very good soul and seem to know quite a bit. Yeah one grenade wasn't going to absolutely destroy anyones pc as I also told you it was because of the grenade launcher spam that made it possible. Yet as I was told not to do it by other staff I can only assume that would be in general for all smoke grenades in the skybox since they can cover the entire sky_camera. The reason I said its fine to use your vape is because it can't engulf the sky_camera the same way the mega vape or smoke grenades can so its minimal. Its that you did it "more than once" as I said, even if its not going to be as bad as smoke grenades after once its just disrupting and visually straining. I had remembered you saying that you've done this before and since nothings been said to you about it before it didn't matter. I really though don't remember anything other than what i said in discord here . How am I supposed to know either what you try to do in staff chat? Only thing I can see is ttt dev chat which you can't see so I would have no idea of your intentions. But hey great time to mention that MapPatcher is on the server and can be used to fix so many things rn. I willingly admit I am still learning at the role. You've only been back since January as far as I can tell with your forum post and in that time I didn't even see anything for trusted. Now that you do have the rank and you have had if for only a month I still don't see anything you can't already do at the moment. For me this reads as just applying for T-Mod because you can. |
