Not really. If the mic was such an integral part of the game, then people without mics / people who don't use mics would not be allowed to play on the server. We have plenty of prevalent players such as: i am a noober, fanta, flare, adam, nick who do not use mics and are successful players. There are binds that exists.

Communication is not diminished when players can not speak over the mic.

So yes. You should just gag people. Though, in this instance the majority of the server was fine with the soundboard.

What's the real 'terrible argument' is dishing out permabans for situations like this.

not being able to talk to people isn't the problem, it's not being able to hear what's going on with who you have had to mute

Ok so this part wouldn’t make any sense Jax. The mic is indeed an integral part of the game since again a bunch of people use mics in ttt. Now there are tons of people who don’t use mics you are correct but again allowing them not to play because of it would even be more dumb then the perma banning for soundboards part. Honestly at times like this I wish perma gag or long time gags was more of a thing since again timbo hasn’t been the ONLY ONE to go crazy with the soundboards at times and it usually took forever for those people to get stopped by staff.

I dont think we have to or need to rewrite the rules what he did was against them and the acting staff member decided to use his discretion to ban. Would I have done it? No. But we are not changing every single rule just to accommodate people you have an attachment towards.

I actually don't have an attachment to Timbo and my in-game interaction with him is actually very limited. I just don't agree with the rules. When the staff are split on "Would I have done it? No." and "Yes. I would have done it" it's pretty indicative of a disconnection.

Most of these people that I advocate for being unbanned, I have no relation to. I rarely talk to Crab, I'm not sure he would even know who I am. I have never even played with the Mad Shitter, yet I advocated for his unban. Same goes for aethy, and the other players.

Don't attribute my disagreement with the rules, with my attachment to certain players.

Now there are tons of people who don’t use mics you are correct but again allowing them not to play because of it would even be more dumb then the perma banning for soundboards part. If you are using a soundboard consistently after multiple warnings, you will be banned to escalate the issue. The reading comprehension in this thread is abysmal. My argument is one that many people on the server share, this should not be a perma-bannable offense. Really has nothing to do with Timbo, else I would have made a thread specifically catered to Timbo. This is specifically for the rewriting of the rules.

If I have to type someone's name through keyboard I'd be unable to do almost anything else. Also, since the game requires visual input for aiming the same way as reading, communication though voice chat results convenient and won't obstruct more 'visual' tasks. The ttt_radio items require the user to aim to the player and if their name disappears you're almost fucked and will need to resort to chat.

Note that the man was baiting with micspam since yesterday in ttt_casino_b2 while I was with Ethan and both decided not to ban him. But guess what happened after telling the man that their next instance would be a perma: they continued, and did even worse before leaving. Today, again, 4 or 5 gags... no. If they do it for the sake of finding loopholes the punishment will be the same.

Just because everyone in the server is fine with it at the time does not invalidate the rule. The rules don't just apply when people complain. Not everyone wants to hear people screaming in their mic, singing, playing earrape, or spamming the same soundboard clip every 2 seconds. This is how nearly every TTT server operates and I see absolutely no reason to change it at this time. Timed mutes & gags are currently being tested but they will also not change the current rules on micspam.
