For the confused: a certain percentage of the population thinks cilantro tastes like soap. This is caused by a group of olfactory-receptor genes, called OR6A2, that pick up on the smell of aldehyde chemicals, which are found in both cilantro and soap.
The same gene also causes said people to never shut up about it! |
