What can you do to help the Discord community: While the lines between helper and moderator are somewhat blurred at the moment, being at the moderator stage would allow for me to handle discord ban requests as they are filed here on the forums, as well as be authorized to ban in terms of rank. At the moment, it appears I already have the same staffing level as moderator, so not much will change in terms of ability to ban. Just the question of "should I be banning?" would be now answered with a firmer yes.
Also, I will fight to better define the rules. I want to ensure that "inticing drama" is a clear and enforceable rule - this way healthy debate/discussion can occur without being under fear of censorship.
Why you want to help the Discord community: I want to continue to keep the discord server up to par with the standards of Discord TOS, and keep the channels as a healthy discussion point. I have noticed the discord become somewhat "dead" in recent weeks, and I'd like to improve its usage. I feel the discord currently complements the forums well, and I'd like to see that balance continue.
Other:
I feel that I'm fairly balanced in terms of the shitposting rule. However, I'm also trying to follow the current guidelines, which involve a strike system. Recently, a popular community member GamerErnie was softbanned automatically due to a strike that I issued - the strike was because of excessive shitposting in one of the game servers. As many of us know, Ernie posted in the forums that he was leaving. Although I stand by the strike, I feel somewhat guilty here, as I suspect my strike factored into his departure. I don't feel that the occasional shitposting bonanza is worhty of anything more than a cool-down mute when it happens - and was certainly not worthwhile a ban of any length. I'd like to see the guidelines/auttaja bot updated sometime in the future to avoid this situation again.
Also regarding the unban request that occurred earlier this month, I feel that I provided the best context I could in terms of why the ban occurred. I don't want to censor people, but I won't stand for harassment of other members of the community. Also at the end of the day, I was not the one who issued the ban.
I'd also like to see staff members of each server get a brief how-to on moderation within their own server's channel. I believe tmods+ have delete rights in the discord for their server's channel; i'd like to ensure that there is always someone with delete/temp-mute abilities available should a foul situation emerge (such as posting porn or viruses in the discord, etc.) until discord staff can make a permanent decision.
I have some ideas that I feel will compliment @synthray's work with the discord server thus far; however, I do not have admin aspirations in terms of discord. I would like to be (and plan to be) involved in discord reformation processes in the future.
