for a brief history lesson to help build some context around the word "cracker" being used to refer to white people in america specifically- the term comes from the sounds the whips made when cracked against the skin of enslaved individuals, the slave masters were referred to by many slang terms and "cracker" is one of those terms, again because of the sounds the whips made when used against enslaved individuals. personally, i dont consider it to be derogatory as they were used to refer to people in the position of power and not as a way of dehumanizing an entire group of people solely based off of their skin tone and appearance.

The way that the word is used now is specifically derogatory to white people in positions of power.

You can just say what you mean: "It's okay to be racist to white people as they are in power."

yes actually, if what you mean by "racist" is "hurt my feelings", it is okay to be mean and hurt people's feelings if the extent of the damage done is to hurt their feelings. sorry that your feelings were hurt from when you were being an asshole and someone told you you were being an asshole. it happens sometimes. i hope we can all learn and grow from this incident.

What I mean by "racist" is that the intent being the word "cracker" is using it derogatorily against people, more specifically white people. Just like any other slur being used derogatorily against a person of color.

If the intent is to hate someone for something they cannot change, say the color of their skin, it's prejudice. In this specific scenario, it's classified as racism.

I hope you are able to comprehend the words I am speaking to you; as it doesn't seem like you're capable of reading considering that you aren't making much sense in the context of who you're responding to. No offense.
bro you replied to me. if anyone isn't comprehending here it's you. sorry someone was mean to you online. i've already explained why i don't care.
just follow the DBAD rule...

By this logic doesn’t that make it an even shittier thing to call someone than just white and uneducated? That’s like calling someone a nazi

it's mean, sure, which is why i wouldn't say it in an elementary school. but being mean on the internet does not rise to the level of a community-wide issue requiring multiple days' worth of discussion.
lol wh*te ppl and m*n

Sick
@grok how should i feel about this
I typed out a longer response but it was wiped because the forums suck ass and forced a refresh so cliffnotes cause it's too late for that shit.

TL:DR this is a bad take.

In my opinion, racism or slur usage is an all or none situation. Disallow all of it, and you have a hard set rule that can be enforced without question. Allow ANY of it and you have introduced a blurred line in the rules that people WILL exploite and use to excuse genuine racist remarks.

I personally take no offense to the use of racial remarks about myself. I am a white man. I understand and know the history as well as the present. However, not everyone is me. Many are made uncomfortable by the use of words like "cracker." At the end of the day, this is a public server where people come to get away from their personal, private, and professional lives. We are here to blow off steam and enjoy ourselves. Allowing the use of any racial slurs, no matter the perceived sincerity or severity, WILL make people uncomfortable and WILL invite people with bad intentions to push that boundary into worse territories. NO ONE joins this server with the hopes of being treated differently because of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual preferences and allowing ANY hate will invite ALL.

On another note, I am of the opinion that the use of the spelling "KKKraKKa" is taking this all a step too far. It is one thing to use the word "cracker," but utilizing the acronym for arguably the most well-known modern hate group for a joke is crossing that line.

No hate towards anyone and everyone has fun.

I understand this, but we also allow for the soft a version of the N Word to be allowed in non-derogatory ways. I think if we disallow all anti-white slurs to be said on server at all we should also remove that to be said at all too. They should both be allowed or both be not allowed, not one or the other.

I was banned for saying the soft-a version in a non-derogatory way.
