He was aware of his slays and said he had to go, I don't see why he has to be banned for it. Banning for RDM and leave should be used to deter troublemakers, not regulars that have to get off the game after they have received a slay.
If he said he had to go when staff were on and someone can vouch for that, I don't think he should be banned
