Grapple Gun Rule Clarification Update Suggestion - StringBean - 05-27-2025 Currently, both Traitors and Detectives can obtain the Grapple Gun. This opens an unfortunate reality where someone can pick up a Grapple Gun from a dead Detective and be killed immediately for it, or the Detective can give it to another player and they can be killed for possessing it. An update to the rule could be that Grapple Guns are KOS-able if damage is done, while also falling under the Move/Freeze/Block Warning rule. Make the Grapple Gun a Detective or Traitor specific weapon, or do away with the terminology that a Grapple Gun is considered a Traitor Weapon, because it's contradictory since it can be obtained via Detective and doesn't inherently do damage itself (like a knife or a trident, for instance). Another option is to publish a list of KOS-able weapons in the MOTD. Currently, there is not one. I think this is probably the best route forward tbh. I'm all for Grapple being KOS-able, but it needs to be clear what is and isn't, and in what contexts. RE: Grapple Gun Rule Clarification Update Suggestion - Virunas - 05-27-2025 -1, There are multiple weapons like that, including a default equipment. Do you think teleporters, baseball bats, and brew should all be traitor only? You can’t kill someone for picking them up anyways, only for brandishing them. RE: Grapple Gun Rule Clarification Update Suggestion - Jammin - 05-27-2025 I think the rules are fine as they stand. If you are not a detective and you are playing with a grapple gun, you take the risks going with that. It is your responsibility to declare that you are using a grapple gun given from a detective. If you are flying around with a grapple, you take that risk. RE: Grapple Gun Rule Clarification Update Suggestion - StringBean - 05-28-2025 Perspective I just noticed: There is not list of Traitor Weapons in the MOTD. This would solve the issue of what is and isn't KOS-able. I've edited the post to reflect that option. It wouldn't be that hard to list kosable weapons (but if legitimately obtained from a traitor/proven, you can't be killed) RE: Grapple Gun Rule Clarification Update Suggestion - Sacred - 05-29-2025 My counter-suggestion: Not Kosable if someone vouches for you having grabbed it from corpses or map objectives. If it turns out you were a T with the item, valid sus on the voucher(s) (Vice versa if the voucher was a T). This allows you to kill potential traitors lying, without kosing an innocent on the spot) This also gives players the opportunity for getting secret knives/weapons/detective drops without having to be punished for it, while also acting as a middle ground where if nobody can vouch for you, you can be KOS (assuming not proven).
