Submitting Ban Requests on PH - VolfVoss - 02-14-2019

My Fellow citizens of Dinkleberg's Prop Hunt,

I wanted to take this time to address a few issues at hand when Submitting Ban request on PH.

First, be sure you're using the correct Format. This is where you will find the Format:
https://www.dinklebergsgmod.com/site/Thread-FORMAT-FOR-POST-READ-BEFORE-POSTING--67

Second, make sure you are creating a new thread in the correct area and not in archives or in community. This is where you create a new thread by clicking the new thread button and pasting the format from the link above:

Third, please please please!! Make sure you include the persons name as part of ban request title. The reason for this is if they decide to make an appeal later on or a review of evidence needs to be made, we (being staff and users) can easily find the ban request information.
Simple suggestions for a title can be things such as (but not limited to): Ban [username], Ban [username] for [violation], or [username] suspected of [violation], etc,.

Also, make sure you have adequate evidence to support your request:

When it comes to ghosting/hacking, usually getting a 2+ rounds of uncut video (of the individual in question) as evidence is sufficient for a ban if you're able to catch the suspicious behavior. If you'd like to know more about what to look for, you can ask any staff member and we can tell you what to look for.

In chat violations. Be sure to take screenshots of what was said before a warning was given, when the warning was given and following the warning for them to discontinue what they were doing. This shows that they have no desire to change their actions, and give more concrete evidence towards a conviction.

Again, if you have any questions about gathering evidence on PH or what to look for, feel free to ask the staff as we welcome the opportunity to educate you and hear your feedback along with concerns.

If you have any serious questions in regards to the PH Server, please message the staff and we (as staff) will assist you in any way which we are able.

Thank you all for that which you do, it's because of your help that we as a community are able to thrive as we have.

And please for the love of god dont call out ghosting and hacking in public chat. Always use @ if staff is on or !p a donor to gather evidence. If the person in question gets tipped off theres a good chance that they will leave before enough evidence is gathered making a ban stick that much harder.

My thing is with the ban requests, if they change their name and come back a lot later to appeal the ban, they might not remember the name they used to have, so searching for the name in the ban title is pointless. Hence why searching threads via their SteamID is a lot more useful. Im not saying it's a bad idea, it just doesn't seem necessary to remember that.

I understand what you are saying but quite a few unban requests show up within a few days of a player being banned. Quite a bit of the time, they still have the same or similar name. Even if they changed their name it may be easier to find instead of searching through several ghosting/hacking generic titles.

If we could get a title format that people could use like for the title: Ban <User> <Reason> could be helpful moving forward.

Steam ID's in ban requests are a must. Some steam names don't work with forums and can cause an issue. Weird Russian characters, Chinese characters, etc. might cause issues.
