Brother Roach's Poker Nights at the Dinkleplace
#1
Seeing as Friday nights are present claimed by the Damien for Music Night solidarity, I would like to poll interest for our Poker Night.
Thursday or Saturday nights. (Depending on my work schedule, I'll give a week notice of which)
7pm CST.
11 player max, texas holdem, no limit, poker.
Open DJ for present players.

Ideally we can legitimize this by putting real $ in the pot. It can be low stakes, say even $10 a person is easily doable and keeps things interesting but we can go higher stakes if there is interest.

Let's form a poker club.
Gamble your hard earned paychecks away in the most American way possible.

The questions are:
Do we gamble real money? Blinds will be determined on the following.
If so how much?

I'm going to advise you put a VERY hard stop on betting or playing for actual money, unless you want to get the community shut down for illegal gambling, or get people in trouble who live in states or countries where it's not legal under any circumstances. Laws vary state to state here in the US especially, and even the states that are "legal" are tightly controlled.

I share a similar sentiment and even can add on to that. There is a potentially high risk of underage gambling this could open up as well, let alone the other legalities mentioned.

Besides the legal aspect, there’s also the social aspect around money. Of course, gambling is a choice and a risk. Despite this, and the money this would theoretically involve being (relatively) a very small amount, people get very, very temperamental when real money is involved, far beyond any fake currency. Take a look at sports for example- players get threats to their life when someone’s parlay is ruined by their performance. Not to say this has that amount of stakes involved, but it can be bad drama waiting to happen.

I'm willing to GAMBLE against those odds

(We don't have to gamble real money, we can do premium points as suggested by a regular)

Yeah, anything introducing real $ to the equation is a recipe for disaster.
I think discord has a built-in poker game that maintains a separate point economy, I'd suggest looking into that.

I don't think it is a good idea to go testing gaming laws openly in the community. We can just play the built in poker game like Jammin suggested.
