Strikes don't work in certain situations, especially when individuals are racist, harass others, or mic spam. Mods should have the ability to gag/mute players for X minutes or even permanently pending an ungag/unmute request by said player.

You're right, there are situations where strikes don't work. That's why the staff also have the ability to mute, gag, kick, karma ban, regular ban, admins can IP ban (even if it's completely ineffective at this point) etc etc. If there is ever a situation where a permagag and/or permamute seem like a better idea than a temp/permaban, you didn't do your job right.

edit: i am in favor of timed mutes/gags tho, permagags/mutes are stupid
