Hello everyone!
I wanted to make a post addressing the recent downtime that has been occurring with the TTT server and forums. We have recently been the target of large-scale DDOS Attacks on both the TTT server and our website, which has majorly affected the availability of these servers. As a response to the recent attacks, myself and the staff have been working on a solution to handle the situation.
For the time being, we have ramped up the DDOS-protection capabilities of the forums here, and have been working on modifications to the infrastructure which houses the game servers themselves. As many of you may be aware, the TTT Testing server has been serving as somewhat of a backup server for players to continue playing in the event that the main server is offline. Feel free to continue playing here in the absence of the main server, but I wanted to share my plan moving forward:
I will be opening up another Dinkleberg's TTT server with a new IP with a different game server provider. For now, this will only serve as a failover/backup to the current server - so that in the event it is offline, players can play on this server instead. This new server will contain live and active player data, and will be synced across both servers so that any changes made on one server (Pointshop items, weapon skins, time played, etc.) will be carried over between the two. I will be working on this in the coming days, and will share the IP publicly once I have it ready to go. The new provider is much more equipped to handle attacks of this nature, and should the attackers choose to target this IP, they will not see the same level of success with bringing the servers offline that they are currently experiencing.
If the attacks on the main server continue, I will likely develop a plan to migrate permanently over to the new server. This wouldn't be my ideal solution, as I don't want to lose our current server IP, but if push comes to shove I will do whatever needs to be done to support the players.
Please feel free to reach out to me here or on Discord with any questions - and a big thank you to everyone for your patience as we navigate this situation.
