Honestly Caribou, I feel it would be much healthier for you to simply move on to something else. This vicious cycle of getting banned, apologizing when needed, getting unbanned and then doing it all over again can’t be good for you or anyone caught in the way. If you’ve changed, then you’ve got nothing to prove to anyone but yourself.

Unlike last time, I feel pretty neutral cuz I’m a sucker for people trying to do better, but lets be real. If you’re just simply saying and doing what you think you need to say and do, then you’ve got a very big problem that’s gonna keep closing doors in your face your entire life.

So yes, do well by others, but be better for yourself as well. Good luck.

I keep seeing posts asking him how he has changed, how can he show you when you guys wont give him a chance to show you? There has been way worse community members unbanned than anything caribou has ever done.

Problem with this is that he had chances to show people he's changed. He successfully appealed permabans before and upon returning to the community, continued the same behavior that led to his original bans/warns. After that, I wouldn't blame people for hesitating to believe that he's changed

+1/0 for unban. i dont think anyone enjoyed all the drama bullshit that happened and those were just shitty situations all around. garrys mod has a lot of weird ass people, you just gotta chill with targeting them and attacking them. a few jokes here and there are fine and funny but at a certain point you become malicious and cross that line. let's stop this dumbass drama between everyone and keep dinks alive while still having a good time on the server.

Yeah also there is people who didn't even deserve to get shouted at for accidentally doing a 5+ damage and having to sit through an hour of the mic so loud it clips audio.

Back when I first joined this community I would get really bad anxiety from seeing the connection message in chat because of what would usually play out as a result.

You're right. I've been able to appeal several bans successfully, only to get banned again for the same reasons. However, in most, if not all of those cases, I hadn't been as serious or sincere as this time. I would either deflect or coat my responses in layers of irony or sarcasm to downplay my behavior. I would get unbanned, knowing full well that I planned to troll or harass someone again. Whenever confronted, I would deflect and attempt to justify my actions as self-defense, as Cimag said.

I hadn’t thought about needing to change, since I didn’t think there was a need. I would dismiss the idea of me being the problem, instead blaming it on something else. I've changed since then. I’ve recognized the errors of my ways and admit to them. I understand it may not seem like a huge change, but I am still growing and learning. It’s my first time being alive too

Also, worst case scenario put a stipulation on him where he’s not allowed to appeal any bans if he gets banned again. We have the most active admin team in forever so it’s not like you guys can’t easily ban him at the first sight of controversy.

While your ban was fully justified at the time, built on repeated infractions and a disregard for community well-being, your appeal demonstrates a clarity and maturity that stands in stark contrast to the version of you who last played here. You’ve acknowledged the weight of your actions without excuses, and more importantly, without pleading for leniency. That matters.

I won’t speak to the personal relationships or fractures that have left scars on this community, but I will say this: if we are to heal, it must be with the willingness to let people grow.
