Who Warned You: chibill

Reason For Warn: Server Lagging/Crashing Exploit

Applying for Removal or Expiry: Removal

Reason for Admins to Remove/Expire: This warn was given to me over a year ago and since my time playing, I was being silly and selfish. I thought I was being funny, instead I ruined the experience of new and old players. I have grown and learned from my mistakes, I haven't gotten a warning ever since and would like to appeal this permanent warning.

What other active warns do you have, if any?: no

I'll be honest, I'm not too keen on the idea of perma-warns in general. The infraction of "Server Lagging/Crashing Exploit" is definitely vague enough to encompass exploits that merit relatively small warns as well as exploits that merit permabans.

@chibill, if you wouldn't mind, can you fill us in on the details of the exploit & subsequent warn?

Well this happened in March of last year thats all I can say. However in regards of the removal, if you were back then actually lagging the server with intention I would say keep it for a little longer. I know you've changed since then but I would keep it for another 6 months

This was a big enough issue that people outside of the staffing space knew about it, so I'll gladly fill in blanks and then give my thoughts.

About 5-10 were able to pull off a lag exploit that was making the server lag over a few rounds to varying degrees. They did not crash the server, though there may be reason to believe it was close, allegedly.

I've always thought this warn and minor lagging incidences, especially by people who play a lot, being in the same bracket as malicious DDoSing is a bit insane, and should either be non-expiring but appealable, or just expire eventually in general, especially since actual harm from this was 0. There is belief that as permanent warns they should stay entirely permanent. I also disagree with this. This group of players has been very helpful with hackers recently, very fun to play with for a long time, and has shown zero signs that it would happen again over a year later. I'd be +1 for removing it from anyone apart of the incident that has been playing consistently recently.

+1 on waiving the warn, I agree with the notion that perma warns at least for infractions like this should be appealable or expire over time, and frost along with other players involved in the incident have shown good behavior since then and have been an overall positive and helpful part of the community.

Permanent warns are appealable, and should be revoked on appeal if the circumstances allow.
Over 1 year of no exploiting issues and acknowledgment of the issue in the appeal are circumstances that would suggest granting the appeal

Thats a very good point that if there have been no further issues then it should be appealable. Frost gets a +1 from me
