Short but Sweet

IIRC we had one years ago to block kids from seeing the now-deleted NSFW channel which was the only purpose of it(shoulda blocked the channel from the get-go IMO). Personally would rather not see the return of it since I feel like it puts a target on people. The "Culture" of ph is tamer than the others primarily because of a somewhat younger audience. When I first joined the primary reason kids even joined PH was because of Vanoss, SeaNanners, etc... regarding it infecting other servers it's a silly idea. Murder has been running similar to ph for a long time now even before Nuru took over. I can't speak for DR and I think the majority can agree TTT has the older general audience of players which gives the server leeway with its topics and insults.

Ultimately I believe even in all his deadness this is still dink's server and unless I missed a memo foul language shouldn't be punishable unless people start getting offended as stated by the dinkman himself in the addressing PH staff post that I cant seem to quote so I'll add the paragraph specifically below.

"The second reason I am denying your admin application Tori is because the key complaint on your application was that you are quick to punish before warning. This is not something that I want to single Tori out for, because I see SO much of this from so many staff members that it seems out of control. This is really not the way I want to see my servers run, and I want all staff but especially the leaders of the server to demonstrate more of a "chill" attitude. If someone is using foul language or has a word in their name that you might think is inappropriate, just give them a warning or honestly just leave them be if no one is offended by it. The reason staff are there is for the people who will not stop and are persistent and obvious trolls. I want to see the staff as a whole take it easy on the punishments, and only use powers to enforce rules when absolutely necessary. I do not want to see staff be quick to punish and use commands. In consideration for future admins, this will be one of the main things I consider. I want the server to be fun for everyone, and I don't want new players on the server to be afraid to use their mics in fear of breaking rules and being muted or gagged."

A nsfw channel is just gonna get filled with furry porn again and dick picks, idk why anyone would want it(not saying you do); furthermore, it can easily be avoided if a minor uses an alt. Which some did in the past.

The minor role we had before was pointless as it was only there for the admins at the time to cover their backs. Only a handful of people got the role as their was no way to know who should get it.

As someone who had the role, there was no targeting I saw; however, I hated it because I thought the concept was degrading in a way.

I’d like to add a lot of these rules were modified during my very short tenure running the discord after nicol resigned. If you wanna give anyone flak for thinking it’s too restrictive direct it towards me. The reason we changed them to be more friendly was to make it more in line with discords TOS and as the server got larger I wanted it to be as welcoming as possible to new people from all servers not just TTT. I understand the gripes but bot and jammin helped me modify the rules to be this way for a reason, as did avi when she came up with the staff team. Sorry for the long post just felt I owed an explanation to my side of it.

The forums are great for more formal stuff, but the discord is primarily where our community engages with one another. Losing the discord due to discord TOS violations would be a crippling blow to this community. More "risque" topics, pictures, conversations, etc. are better left to smaller, private discords. Discord certainly looks at public discords with more scrutiny.

this is cool, I like this way of staffing

overstaffing causes more problems and more problematic people that's all I got for ya

I don't know, I used to be in support of this and I could get behind the idea, but I want everyone to consider the fact that so many breakout discords exist anyways. "Breakout" meaning, discords that were created/split from the main Dinklebergs discord. You'll usually find most of those breakout discords have the option to post NSFW content.

I don't think there's a necessity to implement a NSFW channel, I think like the Dinkleberg's quote Toska linked, there might be an issue with over-staffing. In my opinion this has always been an issue with the server. I think this was most prevalent when we had two weeks of "drama" regarding the use of "retard" in the discord. Same thing with suicide jokes. Same thing with a lot of the jokes that are said on the server. There just doesn't seem to be a good line in the sand. I just think instead of abiding by the rules black and white, there should be more consideration of context.

I don't mean to come at any admin's negatively. You all, for the most part do a good job, and I understand the "struggle" many of you guys go through. For 75% of my time here, I would say I was an example of "over the top" trolling. So, with that in mind it's hard to balance the two extremes.

I'd also like people to consider how the times have changed - 10 years ago when I was playing games things were much more relaxed in regards to what children were exposed to / moderation. I can remember joining GMod and the only thing that was banned was racism. Everything else was fair game. Obviously, I don't think we should return to that laissez-faire moderation style, but I also don't think the opposite extreme does anyone any good either. Per TOS of discord, you have to be at least 13 to use it. That's the end of middle school / beginning of highschool. These 'children' aren't so much 'children' as they are more young adults, so I don't think "sheltering" (not the ideal word, because this situation isn't that deep) them from bad-bad words is doing them any good.

Alright, I need to add context for this sense we are going to grab things from years ago. You took this from Tori's staff application which was a mess by itself. If you were friends with Tori, you could get away with anything, if you annoyed her or you were a woman getting more popular than her, then you were in trouble. On more than one occasion she would not look at the evidence in ban requests and just put in punishments. She had her army of favorites (simps) and would jump around trying to get what she wanted.

Dink telling her to be chill is the OVERALLY nice version of it rather than just denying her for being a terrible candidate. She resigned the very day Nuru got admin after she was denied.  The "chill" attitude statement was more so provided to tell her to stop being an asshole to some people and a bitch to others. I understand what you are trying to say with a statement like this but is too old and too irrelevant to be applicable here.

The context of the post is probably irrelevant by now, but I'd say the sentiment is probably still applicable.

The point isn't tori it's the relax don't punish people unless u absolutely need to. Maybe its just me but i recall alot of people donors included being on the punish quickly train. Not just her

Which I feel is how people like ckg might feel the servers could be heading. It's why I'm fine with how different servers have their different levels of tolerance(excluding discord that's more to abide by tos imo) while the context of why the post was made is old news and irrelevant the sentiment of don't punish unless they are being detrimental to the server isnt at least to me
