PH - Screenshotting and Recording Programs Guide
#1
It has been brought up to the staff of PropHunt that having recording and screenshotting programs is a requirement to apply for staff. This is not a listed requirement nor should it be a requirement. It is only a bonus that is helpful for gathering evidence for ban requests.
Within this post there will be various links to different recording and screenshotting programs as well as a tutorial for setting up OBS for all my potato computer people and those who are new to OBS.

OBS
https://obsproject.com/download
Set up:
After OBS has finished open the program and in the lower right hand corner will be a tab to open settings. After setting is open head to the video tab and adjust the settings to where you can have a decent video, you may want to take a few test videos. You can also change the type of video file it is saved as. Afterwards close out of settings and save them then on the main screen of OBS will be a small box near the left side labeled "Sources" and click the plus sign then click "Game Capture", a small window will pop up click "Ok" then a new screen will pop up double check it captures your screen or game (usually it will be "Capture any full screen application"), up to you then click "Ok" on that as well. You should be set after that. You can also go back into the settings and fiddle with hotkeys in the hotkeys tab to see which works best for you.

You could always use the screenshotting system that's built into the Steam overlay, the hotkey of which is, by default, F12.

Or, do ALT+PrtSc (not sure what it is on Mac.) This takes a picture of your screen and copies it to your clipboard. If you copy anything else, it will be gone.

I personally think that some form of recording should be a requirement for all staff. Ive never seen a ban request stick for ghosting or hacking without video evidence. While screenshots may been good for handful of situations there is no way a screen shot will show everything needed to make a ghosting ban stick. Just my 2 cents.

That said, not everyone will agree but thats just how I feel.

Another thing to consider is increasing the size of the chat box text. This can be done by clicking on the little gear icon. This helps keep the text chat legible especially in recordings that are 720p or below.

Also Relive is included with Radeon Software Edition Adrenalin, you will have this by default if installing AMD graphics drivers for most modern Radeon cards.

Thank you for taking the initiative and making this the only item I mainly suggest is that this gets moved to guides and information as this can be applied to all the servers in some way.

My screenshotting for Steam overlay is F5 but my overlay is disabled for the sake of my fps so I completely forgot about that. I'll also edit any Mac related information into the post as well. Can a Mod or Admin move this to Guides and Information when one is available?

Staff having a recording system as a requirement has been discussed thoroughly which is where the discussion of thread came into fruition. Some people's computers just will never run well in game and with a recording system running and stopping responsible people with good attitudes back because they cannot record a hacker was seen as an overall pointless reason to deny someone. Hopefully this thread will help individuals gather evidence with some program that can be used. We see already being able to record before applying for staff as a bonus that will certainly help individuals gain the role, but as of right now, we have overall agreed to not have it made a requirement.

Please teach your staff how to trim videos down to reasonable lengths. I remember one TTT thread having 3 hours worth of video evidence from one person, no one has time for that shit.

This.

I've probably lost about 16 hours of my life just watching 30 minute hacker videos.

Oh, and god forbid they don't give you the timestamps for the evidence. You'll be sitting there for about as long as my grandmother has been alive.

Thanks for posting, Kuno. I went ahead and added a link to it on our staff application checklist thingy and I move this thread to our guides.
