Peter's Ban Appeal 2
#1
Ingame Name: Peter

SteamID: STEAM_0:1:35152398

Who Banned You: Taylor Swift

Reason For Ban: Pedophilic Jokes

Length of Ban: 1 week

Reason for Admins to Unban: I’m appealing my ban because, frankly, this is getting ridiculous. Yes, I’ve been banned before for explicit jokes, but this time, I didn’t make one. My censored word was "phone," referencing the voice chat discussion about iPhones. Apparently, the moderator decided to let their imagination run wild and assume something far worse—something I never said or implied.

If the rule is about banning explicit jokes, then maybe the focus should be on actual violations, not on moderators twisting innocent messages into something inappropriate. I can’t control how someone else interprets things, and I certainly shouldn’t be punished for someone else’s dirty mind. If anything, maybe the person jumping to those conclusions so quickly should be the one under review.

I’d like my ban to be shortened or lifted because, quite simply, I didn’t break the rule.

Thanks,
Peter

This would be the 3rd time you have done something like this, on 1/16/2025 you were given a verbal warning for making a grooming joke about a Mass RDMer, on 1/27/25 you made an epstein joke, and now you made this joke.  Honestly, if your first joke wasn't just a verbal warn, which you said you would read the rules and not do it again after, and was instead an actual warn, you would be perma banned by now based on our past handling of these sort of jokes.

Shortly before my ban, another player made an explicit and heinous accusation against the rapper Drake (one that is being pushed by fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar)—something that clearly violates the rules. Moderators were online, yet no action was taken. Meanwhile, my innocent message was somehow deemed inappropriate, and I was punished.

It’s frustrating to see such an obvious double standard. If the rules are going to be enforced so harshly against me, then they should apply equally to everyone. I'm not saying it's related, but the player I am referencing was a girl, and it's possible the moderators were afraid to get on her bad side.

Do you have any evidence of this? If so make an abuse report. But don't try and make excuses for your own actions.

-1 they not like us

Edit (to actually add any substance to this post): in my opinion, there is no clear reasoning in adding asterisks to your post other than to bait. Considering you've been warned for similar behavior before, you should strayed away from pedophilic topics. If you can't be funny without making pedo jokes, you should probably try to stop being funny or join a twitter space.

I don't have evidence, no.

I recognize that my first warning for calling another player a "groomer" may have been justified, although I find it difficult to sympathize with someone who was Mass RDMing. In the grand scheme of things, one offense is clearly worse than the other in this game. That being said, the punishments I have received since then for harmless jokes have been completely excessive.

It’s frustrating that the best TTT server in Garry’s Mod is so strict about humor that even completely innocuous chat messages are scrutinized and punished. There is a clear difference between malicious behavior and lighthearted banter, yet it seems that any attempt at humor—no matter how harmless—is treated as a rule violation. I understand the need for moderation, but at this point, it feels like the enforcement has become overzealous to the point where normal, casual interactions are being policed unnecessarily.

While I do appreciate that I have not been permanently banned, it’s frustrating that in my 13 years of playing Garry’s Mod, this is the only server where voice and text chat are expected to be completely bland and sanitized.

Can you explain in detail what the purpose of censoring the word "phone" in asterisks was?

I censored the word "phone" to add a bit of comedic mystique, especially since the voice chat was actively discussing iPhones. The ambiguity was the joke—it could have been any five-letter word. Yet, the moderator was the only one who immediately assumed something inappropriate. I have no idea what they thought I meant, but their interpretation was entirely their own.

The rule prohibits explicit discussions of pedophilia, yet my censored message contained no such thing. If anything, this situation highlights an issue with how the rules are being enforced—where an innocent joke is twisted into something it was never meant to be. I shouldn’t have to justify why I censored a word when the message itself didn’t violate any rules.

Can you explain why the word being ambiguous makes it funny? What are some words it could be that might make it funny?

You'd have to be stupid, or think that the staff is stupid to pretend someone is going to eat up the "NU HUH THEY MISS INTERPRET IT" and I'm seriously starting to consider is the first one, in no possible way is "You kids wanna see a grown man's phone?" a joke, no punchline, no come back no nothing, and when Taylor clearly saw your intent you pull up the "NUH HUH" card

And of course, when chibli calls you out on your behavior you can't take accountability without trying to point the finger on someone else's behavior

And the cherry on top is advertisement, on God, just call them a slur next time and call it a day, this is just pitiful

-1, touch grass and own the jokes, don't go soft when they catch you on your bs Mr bland
