Which dev teams do you want to join and why: TTT

What can you do to help the community dev wise: Be a key contributor in developing fun and innovative AddOns to improve the expirence of Dinkleberg’s servers. Provide insights and optimizations into existing code through code reviews. Write safe and secure AddOns by following best practices and identifying any possible exploits through means such as vulnerable net messages or other oversights.

Have you had any past experience that would translate to dev work: Yes, when I was younger I used to run a roleplay server and develop AddOns for it. I have expirence in several programming languages including Go, JavaScript / TypeScript, Lua, and C++. I have currently been working on a DRM solution that allows customers to manage products and licensing, while also providing a security layer to prevent reverse engineering / cracking to keep their software safe. Some of my more recent projects include website and backend for my friend’s Minecraft mod and a dynamic web menu framework allowing the developer to control and build a GUI in C++ like any ordinary immediate GUI library. It renders on a hosted website this can be used for example to create a program that can manage your system but easily control state from anywhere (your phone tablet, other computers, etc) without the hassle of writing the networking and web frontend required.

Have you been previously banned anywhere in the community? (Link Relevant Posts): No

Have you previously held a staff rank on dinks? No

I understand if I am not trusted enough for this role given my time on the server, however, I appreciate the opportunity for this and I would love to get back into gmod development in my spare time. All I ask if I am considered for this role to allow me the time to get back on track with the gLUA API as it has been nearly a decade since I last touched Gmod. If you have any further questions for me please reach out.

Hi Mark,

Glad to see you apply. After looking over your profile and activity with TTT, I don't think its the right timing yet. Reviewing your in-game time on TTT, you currently only have 20ish hours or so. While it is great that you are enjoying the server, I do believe more time needs to be built up before adding you to a Dev role. At this time, I will be leaving a -1.

Best of luck in the future!

To add onto my experience a user joined the TTT server tonight and is spamming act emotes on all the players, I quickly was able to find the exploit and send a patch to staff.

Don't mean to be redundant, but pretty much everyone here has summed up my feelings pretty well. From what I can gather, opinions of you in general within the community have been fairly positive. Even so, while your experience would be helpful to the server, I'd personally believe you should get some more time in the server and community. That way, you will have a better understanding of our rules, values, balancing on this specific server, and just generally more involved with the community as a whole. From what I've seen, it does seem like you have been fairly active for as long as you've been apart of the community. I'd just like to see that same level of activity over a longer period of time.

Not inherently -1, but I'll hold at a firm 0.

I would be interested in seeing this patch (as the person the documented and fixed our first netcode exploit we had going on as trusted), since having just looked at the code just now, it appears to just be a 1 line fix that's need to correct a beginner mistake in the ttt_act addon.

Appreciate you helping out by finding holes in our server. I would love to see you more active on the server before joining the dev team. Not many people apply for dev roles here so hopefully you stick around as we can always use more tech roles :)
