Suggestions on making the server better

This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time and I know Dink has tried to fix it before, so hopefully, this is something that can get resolved or at least improved a bit in the near future.

Certain maps being played too much:
I kinda like this idea, hopefully this is something Dink is able to do. It gets repetitive if we play the same maps over and over again imo. If not, changing the crash map every once in a while or having it set to random if possible wouldn't be bad either.

Krusty Krab:
I haven't made it a secret that I despise this map, so this may seem a little bias. I still believe that this map is too small for our 32 slot server and is only here for a nostalgia/meme purpose. While that is cool and all, I'd rather not have a broken nostalgia map and would much rather have one that is playable without too many major issues. Bikini Bottom is also a far better alternative imo and there is no need for both(if bikini bottom did get added, i might've missed that it did.) If anything, I think it should be removed and properly tested outside of the main server before coming back for the third time. It seems like every time it is added a new issue comes out about it.

Krusty Krab is too small, not enough ammo spawns, I've literally watched players spawn inside each other and die, and spawn inside of the Chum Bucket doors. That map doesn't have much to offer in terms of T traps, secrets, or anything else that's remotely interesting. Remove it imo

Yes, I'd rather have it be removed and replaced with Bikini Bottom and not see it come back.

Instead of adding more maps, weapons, t weapons, etc, we should be fixing the bigger problems. I understand that adding new items and maps engages the overall playerbase with new content that they want to try out, but the server being a buggy mess makes the actual value of those additions null. It would be much more beneficial to instead fix the major problems first, so that when we add new stuff people can enjoy it a lot more.

fix hitreg nothing else matters

I agree with maps being played way too often. There are also quite a few maps that barely ever see any play, and will never see play because they're unpopular. Along with maps having some form of cooldown, I believe that we should add some new maps. If anyone who reads this hasn't yet, go check out The Map Suggestion Thread and suggest some maps that we could test out. We've already been testing quite a few. I feel as though some new maps would freshen things up and potentially help with the fact that the same 5 maps are played on repeat.
Also yeah, hitreg is bad. But I understand that it's not exactly a simple and easy fix, and will take time to find the right fix. Gmod isn't exactly a flawless game, and it will never be perfect.

Hitreg, Server Lag and Crashes should be the main priority. While content updates are nice to have in the meantime, they still don't address the main issues with the server.

Dink if you're reading this, you seriously need to sit down with some of the devs when they are available to sort these issues out. It's honestly absurd how buggy the server has been over the years, and we've gotten nowhere near fixing it.

Sit down with Juan & Ted if they're willing to, and work together during a Server Maintenance. Try to unmount addons we don't need / use. Clean out the databases & tables, look into better hosting, something, anything to fix this unoptimized mess. I respect the hell out of you, and I know you're usually pretty busy at times. But I cannot stress enough how unenjoyable it can be to play on the servers now adays.

When the hitreg does not work properly, other broken content in some areas, server hiccups and crashes are still a thing, and most (if not) all of these have not been addressed nor fixed since I've started playing here years and years ago. And it's been sad to see over the years.

We appreciate all that you do, but we really need you to take the time in looking into this. For the sake of the community, these issues need to be resolved.
If you have any questions regarding the server rules or anything else, send me a forum PM.

Map cooldown is a good idea. I've discussed a weight on voting which is in the same spirit, having the more popular maps limited per day so other maps we never play anymore can be played, if no one wants them, remove the old maps.

67th Way, Waterworld, Rooftops, and Casino are very overplayed. While they are great maps and I have no problem with them, but I feel like the issue stems from those being the most familiar to people so they continually vote for them. Map cooldown (like 12-24 hours) would be great so we can branch out more and players will be able to see more maps than they otherwise would have if they had selected one of the maps that they play on a regular basis.

I am t-  J - s not t - G - s and especially not the plural of tj. That would be retarded.

I don't think mapvote should be top priority (That spot belongs to hitreg), but I honestly think that there are so many ways to make mapvote better that I want to see how hard it would be to recode it. I'm going to look into this and see what I find.
Problems I have noticed with mapvote:
-same maps being played
-maps lagging/crashing because they are too small for a full server
-Rounds taking forever because a small amount of people are on for large map

Hit Reg:
Thought this was fixed a while back or at least considerably better , the addon we use to help improve it is up to date. This is becoming an increasingly difficult issue to diagnose, but me and Juan will do what we can.

Cooldown:
This mapvote has cooldown enabled and is currently set to 3 maps. If this number should be higher it can be easily raised to something agreed upon.

Krusty Krab:
She gone. Weapons thing was an easy fix but the map is too small for the server and something is up with the spawns.

Thanks for making this thread, Deadpool. Suggestion threads are the easiest way for me to get stuff done and have it all complied somewhere. I'll have some time off work next week so I should be able to make a little time to look at the backend of things and try to figure out what's going on with the hitreg.
